During the past week a lot has gone down with Pandora. Luckily, I won’t have to worry about losing my favorite website. Let’s go over all of the drama.
Well first off internet radio did have to sacrifice some cash to stay alive. A deal was made a couple of days that made All web radio companies give up 25% of all of their revenue to the music industry which made Pandora limit their free users to only 40 hours of streaming a month without a fee. That is one huge chunk of change out of Pandora’s pocket.
Now this concerns me quite a bit. Although Pandora will survive (if you read this rest of this article you will see why they will be doing just fine), many of the smaller streaming sites will suffer from this loss.
But all was not lost for Pandora after that huge hit by the music industry. Today, they announced some of the best news I have heard in a while. $35 million in funding! Yeah you saw that number correctly. Apparently the execs also love their music enough to spend that kind of cash.
This means Pandora, if spent correctly, can use this money to improve their already awesome service for years to come.
