My Setup: More Monitors = More Things Done

After receiving my Samsung 24″ I had some rearranging to do in my office. This included moving my tiny 19″ to the side and changing some settings in Synergy.

My setup now consists of my Macbook to the left, the Samsung 24″ dead ahead, and the 19″ Gateway to the right.

This new setup is great for getting things done because it organizes programs.

Using synergy I can have NetNewsWire to the left on my Mac. This allows me to receive any breaking news as it happens. This is especially important when I’m trying to get some blog posts out on the interwebs.

Dead ahead I can have anything that needs my attention. Whether it be a blog post in the works, some website design, notes, or a youtube video, whatever my main focus is, its on the center screen.

To the right I usually have Tweetdeck running getting all of the updates from around the Twittersphere. Usually I often have Evernote running so that I can quickly jot down any new post ideas or things I need to get done throughout the day.

As you can see, this easily organizable set of programs I have running are all managed simply by the natural borders created by the separate monitors.

Should I Go With One Big Monitor Or Two Small Ones?

If you are looking to go with a performance setup where you will be watching movies and playing games, go with the big monitor. It will allow you to take in all of the eye candy that your high-powered pc puts out.

However, if you plan on doing schoolwork, work, or just about anything else, I prefer the organization capabilities of the multiple monitors.
