Why a netbook? Well netbooks are extremely portable. They allow the user to have access to internet wherever they go.
Size:
Pros- Extremely portable and lightweight.
Cons- The screen often feels cramped and that gets extremely annoying when you try to read a multiple page document. Also the keyboard is not quite full size so there is a little but of getting used to the placement of the keys.
RAM: The HP Mini 1010RN only has 512mb of RAM. This is fine for basic web surfing and email. But if you would like to do some light audio or video editing then 512mb will not cut it. There are more expensive model types of the Mini with 2GB of RAM if you need it.
Storage: This particular model comes with an 8GB SSD. This is extremely cramped and only has room for program files and thats about it. Any other files such as music or movies needs to be put on another computer or an external hard drive.
Note: The more expensive models do have up to 60GB of storage for a much higher price than this particular model.
Battery: The battery life is decent with around three and a half to fours hours of life on each charge. It is not the most I’ve seen but it is enough to get the job done. One very nice feature is the sleep feature that nearly turns off the netbook. It conserves almost all of the battery life which is very nice when you happen to walk away for a couple minutes. Then, when you wish to return to whatever else you were doing, one press of the spacebar gets you back into Windows within 5 seconds.
Overall: Overall I think that the HP Mini 1010NR does what its supposed to do. It has enough power to run internet and do basic programs. I personally have had no problems with it. Its portability is great for traveling or when you have the itch to get out of the house. And, if more computing power is needed, you can always upgrade the memory or storage.
