Was this not to be expected? Venture Beat posted today that time spent playing video games keeps going up despite a shortage in sales. Well the majority of the games today are those that are expandable. Take for instance Rock Band, Modern Warfare 2, and World of Warcraft. While drastically different in genre, they all have the same purpose: to keep people playing after buying only one game.

World of Warcraft is notorious for this approach and is capable of keeping people attached to their computers for weeks. Rock Band has days worth of songs that are available for download. Modern Warfare 2 has stunning multiplayer and will come out with downloadable content for the next year or so.

So yeah, sales are dropping but gameplay is going up. But isn’t that because of the games themselves? I know that if I want to play some video games I pop MW2 into my xbox and game on. But the last thing I’m going to think of doing is buying yet another $60 game.

Condé Nast is one of the more well known technology driven magazine publishers so it is not surprising that the makers of Wired are going to be some of the first to embrace the new iPad. As of now they look like the smartest publishers because just how many people will want to try out the reading experience on day one and say “ooh let’s try out this here Wired magazine.” Well played Condé Naste.

The remnants of the once great and hyped Crunchpad were supposed to be released by the end of January. However, not surprisingly, the release date has been pushed back even further to March 25th. Good thing I lost interest in months ago…

This post was purely for the photo above. I have no real specs or other geeky stuff, just a photo that you might have seen over at Gizmodo of a very cool watch that replaces the old-timey gears with lasers. There is no doubt that if you buy this watch you will get one step closer to saying your name is “Bond.”

The “Google Phone” originally launched solely on T-Mobile in early January. But the real surprise was the announcement that the Nexus One would be available on both Verizon and Vodafone later in the year.

Now it has been reported from a source inside Google that the CDMA version of the Nexus One has a release date on Verizon of March 23 and will be coming to Vodafone in April.

What will be interesting to watch is the sales of the Nexus One. This is the first smartphone to be available on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile at the same time.
