Well here is some interesting news. The internet has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. While this may come as a shock to some, I really can’t think of a better nominee.

If you take the events of the past year, for instance, you will find that the internet has made the world aware in a way that has never been seen before. And, for the first time we might have a means of transferring information that transcends government itself (if you remember the Iranian riots).

My only question is, who would accept the award?

As a fellow Android Seesmic user it is nice to see this feature finally coming to the app. While most have been able to survive without multiple accounts (who really needs to update 3 accounts from their phones), the new feature will be happily received.

So what about the iPhone? Well since Seesmic (in my opinion) dominates the Android market, it is no surprise that they will go to where they have influence first. Get feedback, then go ahead along the atrocious app store process to pushing out a new version.

Some other smaller improvements include optional larger text, quicker scrolling, and the ability to return to the same place in the timeline when navigating through lists or other inboxes.

Congress has gone sticking its nose where it doesn’t belong again. Hulu is a company. And like every other company, they want to protect their product. It just so happens that their product is online T.V.

So what does this have to do with Congress? Well with the NBCU deal now in the works, I guess it is necessary to get the full details of revenue and how that revenue is generated. But why congress brought up this specific incident is beyond me.

If this isn’t huge news then I don’t know what is. Google is fed up with the attacks from China after bending backwards to make their services “fit the bill” for their censorship laws. And I have to say, BRAVO.

That’s not to say Google is not taking a hit for this. They certainly are. A country of over a billion citizens is nothing a corporation likes cutting off from their business model.

So what does this mean? Well buy Baidu stock of course. If this deal goes through with Google, Baidu will seemingly annihilate all other search engines in China.

In all seriousness though, this is a small battle won against free speech and all that jazz over in China. If we could have a few more corporations step up to the plate now to take the next swing…. No one? Alright then.

If you guys didn’t already know I now have a weekly column on http://layeredbyte.com.

If you have been living under a rock for the past couple of weeks, then you know of the Consumer Electronics Show. Or as the rest of the lazy world likes to announce it: CES.

I believe that Paul Carr describes this phenomena the best, “four days wandering around an aircraft hanger filled with vastly oversized television sets, or sitting through endless product launches that are being simulcast online anyway.”

I personally took the last piece of advice and periodically tuned into some live webcasts of the show from the comfort of my own desk. And while I did long to “suffer” along with the rest of the geeks at CES (just because of the geek that I am) I found that I really wasn’t missing much.

Now if I were to predict this year in technology based solely on CES it would be pretty easy; we are all going to have an extreme headaches trying to read our e-books and tablets from watching 3-d TV all day.

In all seriousness though there were few things that really struck my eye and made me say, “I NEED that.” What stuck out at me more than anything were the trends, that are so completely obvious that I can pick them up.

First up is 3-d TV. Although we might all think that Avatar is stunning on the screen, there is no way anyone will want to have this in their house….
